I want to read this book!!
Just saw this movie for the first time and it blew me away.
Riveting! & stranger than fiction.
Interesting! I still want to go.
I’ve been really curious about this. I had 3 positive blood tests for high levels of antibodies over the past year. I never felt very sick but clearly caught and fought covid at some point in 2020. I’m not an antivaxer nor a covid denier but I don’t like the feeling of being forced to get something with side effects if it’s unnecessary for me personally. I understand the interest in a blanketed approach but I do agree that had the CDC trusted the public with the more complete and nuanced data, there would have been potential for more overall trust in the CDC and the vaccine in general.
Can’t wait to see the doc! “College Behind Bars”
I’ve been to a lot of Mets games and never have heard fans boo their own team
Still a good show but this is also obviously true
I loved this show and didn’t even pay any attention to the credits! Gotta watch again.
I felt as much joy consuming every word of this epic article as I do every bite of my pizza experiments.
Wish there were more examples given, found this kinda dense.. pun intended?
I heard Kelsy speak on a recent episode of the Savage Lovecast podcast and was really struck by her perspective. I was more effected by the interview than by reading this piece now so I highly suggest listening if you can. The take away I got was that the Christian narrative that sexual desire outside of heteromonogamy is evil and depraved and NOT the fault of those who feel the desire but instead the fault of those who TEMPT the proclivity, leads directly to demonization and violence against people living openly with non traditional lifestyles. Part of his church’s statement was this:
"No blame can be placed upon the victims. He alone is responsible for his evil actions and desires. The women that he solicited for sexual acts are not responsible for his perverse sexual desires nor do they bear any blame in these murders," the statement said. "These actions are the result of a sinful heart and depraved mind for which Aaron is completely responsible."
The fact that they doubled down on the idea that his DESIRES were evil proves to me that their rhetoric had to be a contributing factor to his actions.
I’m not offended by this opinion and think that all Black perspectives on Black issues should definitely be heard and considered. I don’t think as a white person I really want to have an opinion personally aside from listening and trying to do as little harm as possible. The timing did make me a little uncomfortable as another unarmed Black man was just murdered by police in the same city that Chauvin’s trial is taking place.. I guess I do have a personal opinion but it’s based on my community and the Black people I know who are scared and upset by how our country and media seems to view Black life as disposable and so that is my focus & I don’t want to lose it by critiquing how their pain manifests.. I don’t think the article gave enough evidence to support the idea that all perspectives that include the acknowledgment of systemic racism and micro aggressions are not based in “truth.” I think there’s been tons of evidence and discussion recently about how inherently subjective ‘truth’ and ‘facts’ can be.
I loooooove figs
Secret kingdom complete with aquadisco! My friend sent this article inviting me down the rabbit hole and I think I’m in.
This is the bare minimum outcome we deserve after world wide protests against police brutality and extreme unrest throughout our country. Most notably now in Wisconsin in reaction to the shooting of Jacob Blake. End qualified immunity now!
I’ve seen all different versions lately, a yellow line for emts I think? A red line for the fire department. I feel like it conveys the message that ‘we have each other’s backs more than anything else.’ And that’s a weird message from a public servant.
A stunning and vital articulation.

So inspiring to learn about people investing in real change/alternatives to systems that feel so impenetrable.
