Lol, whoaaaa. Remember when days of the week were a thing?!

This feels so so ancient yet it’s so so not.

Hahaha, yeah, now while looking at a screen and WFH, every day feels the same. When I feel tired, take a break by listening to music or reading a physical book.

      It's really true.

I’m semi-retired and only work Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our office is closed on Friday so it’s TGIT for us. We all love Thursdays so this article is preaching to the choir.

Curiously enough, this piece reminded me of George Orwell's A Nice Cup of Tea. Considered good writing in its purest form.

But this article doesn't strike me as right beside A Nice Cup of Tea because of technique; instead I'm impressed by how many words the author could spin (and titillatingly so) in praise of such a beige-colored day like Thursday.

Even the name - Thor's day, thooooorrrrrsdaeeeee, THURSDAYYYYY - feels like an infernal low hum in the back of my skull.

      Impressive.

        Now that's a vunderful comment.

To me this is the Tuesday of articles. I disagree with the order. But I do have a new appreciation for Thursdays. To me, and I know I'm crazy, but Monday's are the best. They get me back into a routine, and I get to be productive all over again after about 3 days of fly-by-your-pants days. (Yes Fridays are not productive because of everyone else) Oh and to me Tuesdays are at the bottom of my list along with Wednesdays I can never get the hang of Wednesdays.

But I mostly didn't like foul language in the article.

Love the premise but didn’t agree with his theory. I like Mondays so obviously we think differently.

totally agree with Joanne on this one. Mondays are the best.

lol WHAAAAT?!?!? I agree that Monday got tough treatment here. But it's def not the best day.

Also, there's no doubt that this article was written for the M-F set.

I hope it AOTDs tomorrow - Thursday!

Absolutely not written for the semi retired. I feel like Monday is a new beginning, I turn the page in my calendar... it feels good. Also I can actually complete The NY Times crossword puzzle.

Upvote. Those are great reasons to love Monday.

After I send the Readup Weekly on Sunday, I usually disconnect completely until Monday. And then when I do get started on Monday, the first thing I do is read and respond to all of the emails from readers - sometimes dozens, and almost always super positive. It's the best way to kick off the week! :)

      Excellent. New Favorite Day.

I have to agree. I’ve love weekends, but they are overrated and over-scheduled. I suppose if I was retired I might feel somewhat differently, but this author’s writing is light and humorous, and definitely has made the argument for Thursday as my new favorite day.

The author listed several bands that wrote songs about a wrong day of the week but Morphine got it right. I hadn't listened to them in quite a long time and I'm glad this article made me put on that album. I'm totally on board with Thursdays.

When you’re retired and happy, every day is the best day! Every day is Thursday!!!

40 more years... I dream of making it to infinite Thursday’s

I'm hoping to be able to stop working totally later this year, we likely will be having a big enough windfall that it will be possible. I retired from serious work a few years ago.

Thursday thrust me towards the weekend, oh, the next day is TGIF, naughty Saturday night and then overwhelmed on Sunday, just bored and waiting for a Monday's brightening Sun.

    • jbuchana4 years ago

      Yay Thursday!

I get this article, but it doesn't really apply to me anymore When I worked in an office, days meant something. Monday and Friday obviously. But now that I'm retired and work a retail job, days have lost their meaning. I can work any day of the week and the days I work change from week to week. some weeks I work all weekend Other weeks I don't. I never know more than a few days ahead when I'll work. It's Very disrupting, and with the changing economy and employment realities, more and more people are in this situation.
