I don’t think the author meant ordinary in the sense that we usually think of it. I think she meant “ordinary” more in the sense of universal or common to humanity. I don’t hear her suggesting we shouldn’t strive to be our best selves but to be aware we’re still a part of the common humanity. That attitude could help keep us from being arrogant.
you can never get enough of something you don’t really need. If you’re blind to the wholeness that’s already present, you’ll never find it in other people. When you see it you’ll see it in everyone.
Tough sell, ordinary over special. I do not want to necessarily strive for ordinary. Letting this concept sink in.
