I never read the Harry Potter books either, but I really enjoyed this article.

I don’t separate my life from the creative process - they are intertwined, embodied. Discipline, resilience, humility, courage and independence are all qualities that make for creating an exciting, captivating story that is your life. And breaking the rules is mandatory, in my opinion, otherwise it all becomes rote and formulaic. I did not read Harry Potter since that is not a genre I’m drawn to, however I’m a fan of J K Rowling for all the above mentioned qualities. I laughed out loud at Benchley’s quote.
