I love the reframe: Walking is something I “get” to do, not something I “have” to do. I’ve had periods of time in my life where serious illness has taken me out and off my feet. There’s no better perspective to realizing how privileged I am to be able to walk. And I treasure it.

I am on day 1245 of 15,000 plus steps (avg) per day. Mostly I just walk with friends but also solo. I also participate in Zumba and fitness classes. My goal is 10,500 per day, but I always log more. My favorite steps are outside steps immersed in nature—free of any media or technology. While walking, I've discovered hidden nests of all types, learned the calls of birds, and spotted turtles camouflaged in swampy water. Walking never gets old—just I do! But walking makes me feel young.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Congratulations! I love outside walks the best too. I never bring anything but an intention to invite spirit in. It’s my time to listen. And I always see new things despite walking in very familiar areas. The trees and birds are my favorite. Trees in winter are a different kind of beautiful - that bare dark branch against such gorgeous gray skies. Walking makes me feel very grounded, grateful and connected to everything. Joyful!
