I was shocked when I first saw the Salesforce Tower in real life. Nobody told me to expect it. Driving up from the airport I remember, specifically, shouting, "WHAT THE F*** IS THAT?!?" (I lived in SF for several years, but that was several years ago. ~2010-2014.)
This one skyscraper really does transform the entire skyline, especially when arriving from the South or East.
I enjoyed this architectural history of a city I love. And I enjoyed, from afar, the opportunity to reflect on whether or not it still really is the city I love...
I don't know if this is the first time I've seen it, or the first time I've acknowledged it, but when I saw the Tower as I drove into the city from L.A. with my brother, I couldn't believe it.
I wonder if anyone protested the way Alvin Duskin protested the Transamerica Pyramid in the 60s. I hope they gave 'em hell.
i live in san francisco. i have not seen this building. failing nyt is just spreading more fake news. salesforce building is a total hoax.
totes hoax!

The more I think about it the more it's a nightmare.
