The thing about trends is that they are so fractured and personalized that even if some people in La start wearing PacSun, that only accounts for a small group of people. The internet of culture is going to mash everything together in weird and unexpected ways. I think it’s more likely we’ll have a death of trends than a rebirth of irony

For those interested in this topic, I highly recommend his book, “Delete”. A few years old but just as relevant as ever.

I feel what the author feels. I know (parts of) this pain. It is not an easy recovery. For me, the relief comes from love and affection — knowing (and being told) that my body is beautiful, that I am beautiful, that I am me. My heart goes out to everyone who can see a even a flicker themselves in this.
