Absolutely relatable. There is a fear of failure to meet the expectations of others, especially close family. The millennial crisis is rearing its head in many strange and curious forms but the overall tone is pervasive: ineptitude, a changing world, and broken promises. I wonder what it would take to get a program like New Start this in the States?
The story of the Ovitz family is so bittersweet; they were favored and treated preferentially because of their genetic conditions but then forced to play guinea pig and circus act for their captors in order to retain that favor. It's a wonder they made it out alive.
I guess it is about time that we address information hoarding in an age where it's all too accessible. Sometimes I wonder if we remember what it feels like to be truly bored.
Glad to see these types of parent/child relationships being talked about
does anyone else really enjoy metahumor?
I appreciate the direction this post is going in, but can we not focus so much on the minor grammatical inconsistencies of the fake pages and more on the fact that their content is blatantly provocative and aims to divide and incite hatred? A missing indefinite article can happen anywhere; I'm more wary of a group that posts that [x] group is invariably better than/will surpass [y] group.
"When seen from the monastic viewpoint, “real world” life is actually the prison to be escaped."
From this sentence onward I knew I needed to read this article.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a day away from consumerism and just focus on quiet and community?
Somehow the idea that spending time immersed in nature improves one's mental and spiritual health is wholly unsurprising to me.
what a gorgeous art form! I bet it looks even more impressive up close and in person.
I might consider learning the trade.
Sooner or later a social media account is going to pop up just to chronicle the name every time it changes. I'd bet good money the "vandal" is a Scrabble player.
I felt this story in a way that was far more visceral than I expected. Eagerly looking forward to the finished novel. Thank you Crystal.
"What I mistook for 'love' for my job was actually human willingness to support others being taken advantage of by the non-profit industrial complex."
If that didn't hit like a punch in the gut. Some of us are still unpacking the desire to work ourselves to death as a "noble sacrifice."
Great intro to one of the lesser talked about martial art forms
Every time I see kinds publicly speaking on "adult" issues with thoughtful commentary I really start to feel like we're going to be alright

What an interesting concept! I haven’t experienced these sorts of trip ups with intercultural differences, but I can definitely apply this concept to socializing as a very closed off, introverted person. I might just be a coconut in a peach culture.
