There's no doubt in my mind that we'll all be hearing this term - "human downgrading" - again and again in the coming months and years, and I'm giving this a 10 because I think that this is an important conversation that we should all be having.

I continue to be cautiously optimistic about the Center for Humane Tech and Tristan Harris, though I won't list the reasons why.* I love the focus on language, but I still wish the movement had teeth.

      This cracked me up:

He could have gone all Beto O’Rourke, driving from city to city, charming the media and trying to start a movement. He also could have let the whole thing get to him: microdosing, moving to Humboldt County, making his own sauerkraut.

I guess that means that I'm going Beto O'Rourke (!) although the latter option sounds truly compelling.

Nicholas Thompson's proximity (and fondness) to Tristan is a bit over-the-top. But whatever. It's not hidden or sneaky, so I guess that makes it okay.

*Actually, no, I will. :) (1) Using social media while raging against it is hypocritical. Harris and CHT need to dump Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn, etc., ASAP. Credibility & integrity is really on the line here. (2) Esalen vibes are really not what this movement needs. (3) Fear of "rising populism" is also not what this movement needs [versus embracing all political viewpoints, especially widespread/mainstream ones] (4)
