I need to revisit Gibson. I pseudo-read (skimmed, basically) Neuromancer in a science fiction class in college. It was one of many books that I didn’t have the time to fully appreciate because of the breakneck pace of college coursework. A shame, really. I hate thinking about all the great literary potential that gets lost in college English departments. At this point, I’m so hardcore about slow, mindful reading that the idea of forcing students to read hundreds of pages per week seems downright unethical.
At this point, I feel very clear about this: The rich and powerful are not the ones who create the future. The creatives are. That’s why they’re called “creative,” because they create.
A good article about one of my favorite authors. The Neuromancer trilogy and Difference Engine are my favorites, but his work is always great.
Heck yes!! So inspiring!
