Worthy topic, but (for me at least) not much new information.
If you’ve worked in a corporate setting and you don’t notice these mechanisms, you have to be kind of blind and delusional. Although I guess that’s the point - delusions happen because the people who are “making it” really don’t want to hear/know/believe that they inherited success and they’re actually quite unimpressive people, just puttering along at the top of the food chain because that’s where they landed. And, indeed, it’s a tough pill to swallow!
It’s really not the end of the world to be mediocre in some ways. But the rampant lack of reality and lack of self awareness - that’s a big problem, especially today, across much of society.
