When Democrats were offered a choice of different ideological labels, “socialist” and “democratic socialist” each drew 1 and 6 percent, respectively, and “progressive Democrat” got 5 percent. Sixteen percent of respondents chose “moderate Democrat,” and 20 percent of them picked “Obama Democrat.”
Those numbers really surprised me. It's amazing how much noise can be generated on social media by such a relatively small number of people. I don't even use Twitter but still if I had been asked I would have guessed the socialist labels would have represented something approaching one quarter of registered democrats.
I gave this article a 10 because I found it refreshing to read a dispassionate and well-reasoned political article.
