Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me.

Also, I was at the Harvard graduation ceremony this year for my brother. The commencement speaker was Angela Merkel. She was also epic - spoke in German and only broke into English at the very end.
Loved this. So right on, thought it was way more recent. She is very intuitive... must be a result of spending your life feeding imagination.!
