There's a book, 'The Dispatcher by John Scalzi, where people who are killed by other people come back to life (in their bed the next day). This is society wide, so duels become a thing among the young folks because you just wake up back in bed. An interesting read if you're looking for something quick.
This is a ridiculous story! But I can somewhat feel the guys pain. Dealing with lawyers and the legal systems can make anyone feel like they've gone through the looking glass and into a land where nothing makes sense.
