      This time in history certainly seems like “The Great Unveiling.” We are seeing how the current systems are not working, which is an essential first step towards finding solutions. We need more creative and innovative ways of problem solving - more collaborative. We can not ignore the mental health and homeless issues.

        California is having similar issues. I don’t see either coast having success. Seems a very foundational issue for society, where we see the symptoms, but no easy solutions. Tragic.

      We know by now what would actually make communities safer: increased investment in public resources for the homeless and mentally ill, more restrictions on purchasing and owning firearms, decreasing income inequality and removing many of the material conditions that allow people to become radicalized, angry, and violent. None of these are likely to happen anytime soon.         This is the right message. Trying to solve with cops will create a police state, with not just working cameras but cameras that guarantee a lack of privacy (e.g. China).
