unlike lithium, nickel and iron do not create large quantities of water waste when mined, nor are they linked to significant environmental degradation.
I'd also love to see articles like this look at the human cost of sourcing the materials for batteries. The environmental degradation of much mining sucks majorly, and even more so the slavery & exploitive labor required to source materials like cadmium, cobalt, lithium etc is a major nope. It's part of the biggest issue I see with our growing reliance on batteries. How "green" can something really be if you need slave/child labor to make it work?
