I was hoping for more context on the reputation systems that eBay pioneered. Years ago I was a PM at Couchsurfing, another org that pioneered some now-common reputation systems in the earlier days of the web when people were still just learning how to do "real world" things (buying/selling stuff, sleeping on each others couches) online.
And I enjoyed reading this because I always enjoy a good Facebook-bashing session.
A really great insight into how the fundamentals of eBay are still underlying so many of our internet experiences.
