When does feeling grateful for my life begin to feel kinda piggy?..... I am lost and conflicted at times but I do not want to lose the emotion of being grateful for the things I have worked for.... but there is no denying I have and my kids have had many more opportunities than the kids and people in this article.... Yes we work for the things we have but it is still so unfair.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! This is beyond tragic - heartbreaking. It’s mind blowing how families can live like this - actually, they are barely surviving. This seems hopeless. I’m sitting here stunned. Where to begin?

Great find! Read for a nice dose of empathy.

“Where to begin?” is a tough and important question. The answer, I think, might involve reading. In fact, maybe the work has already just begun. Maybe, since awareness must precede action, we’re off to a strong start.

I often struggle with the feeling that there’s too much to do and I’m not getting anything done. But with honesty, intention, and integrity, we’ll figure this stuff out.

Social media used to make me feel like an “activist” for posting my opinions. Now I can see that that was an illusion. I’m glad that the illusion is gone, but I’m still scared of this nagging feeling that I’m doing almost nothing for anyone except myself. And the more I read stuff like this the more I’m like, “Someone DO something!” We don’t need more social workers. We need a Great Awakening.

This one particular line caused me to choke up a little:

Darnell comes to life in computer class, where he shows off his agility at math, matching patterns and filling in multiplication tables. He whispers “Bam!” whenever he gets an answer right.

We all have it in us. Some of us just have a million hurdles to jump.
