Heartbreaking and eye-opening, thanks for posting! I feel like the biggest problem in building a reliable safety device is that there is no communication between the baby seat and the vehicle. If you just go by weight, motion or optical sensors I feel like there would be too many false positives and negatives.
It's too bad that when the LATCH standard for anchoring/tethering baby seats was mandated there weren't any provisions for occupancy or restraint status signaling to the vehicle.
I agree this can happen to anyone. It’s so tragic. I don’t know how we haven’t come up with technology to fix this problem!
