      Instead, reading's payoff often comes after some effort and maybe even a little boredom in the beginning. But the slower-paced pleasure comes with more satisfaction in the end.

      I don’t agree with Cairo. Teaching “digital reading” is absurd. Thank god for the last paragraph.

        I don’t think digital reading is workable, at least in online culture right now. Digital reading simply isn’t set up for deep reading. Even textbooks in a digital format strongly provoke the desire to jump around and go to a different chapte. The entire design makes it difficult to learn. Also, I am so sure that hyperlinks are why I don’t finish reading a document online. I end up skimming each webpage separately and take very little in. Shame on me!
