I have an edge case where music (importantly; only certain types of music) helps me focus on my work instead of distracting me from it. I certainly don't experience the music in the same way as I would if leaning back in a comfy chair and doing nothing but listening to it, but it helps remove other distractions and let me get in the zone and focus on my work.
I guess it's kind of the same phenomenon as how the right film music will help suck you in to what's going on in the film, rather than distract from it.
