There are a lot of articles about forest fires fueled by climate change, but very few articles mention what happens to these areas in the years after the fires. I assume in most cases the forests grow back, but because the climate is changing, there are probably cases where the forests from before the fires are replaced by a different type of biome.
No doubt about it. All biomes everywhere seem to be in total flux because of climate change.
Where I am (New Mexico) people are learning to adapt to (1) hotter (2) drier (less humid, less water in the air) (3) drier Earth (less water in seasonal rivers, soil) and (4) more fires (lower air quality) because of all of the above.
The planet is getting toastier and we're doing funny stuff about it: Sending planes to other countries. Analyzing and over-analyzing how some person or media organization is talking about it, or gasp! not talking about it. It's all noise. But also it's not. Because meanwhile, things keep getting toastier.

So difficult to wrap my head around this. Especially since I have seen the fires in California and it can feel like the end of the world is coming.
