Call Me by Your Name was amazing because of the intense feeling of ephemerality that’s built into the plot. The lovers have only a few weeks to make as much love as humanly possible, which is a really hot thing to think about.

I enjoyed reading this sequel, but also, I wish I didn’t. Because it kinda ruins the original (Call Me by Your Name) for me. Some stories and characters really shouldn’t go on.

Nobody wants to see Rose getting married and raising a family after Jack dies in Titanic. Good art has a frame, a border. It ends, even if we don’t want it to. Grumpy me votes “no!” to basically all love story sequels.

Love stories should be hot, fast and then over.
