I know what you mean, but I'd like to think there's a strong possibility that the tone could remain largely unchanged.
Might be a bad example, but it was many, many years after the fact that I learned that J. Howard Marshall pursued (then) Vickie Lynn Hogan for more than two years before she accepted his proposal of marriage, and that they were, by certain accounts, good friends. (Trustworthy accounts? As with all relationships of this sort, there are really only two people who truly knew.) Anyway, I do wonder what I would've read about that event had in occurred, not in 1995, but, say, in 2020.
I agree with you, only the two people involved truly know. I also think every relationship is as unique as the two individuals involved. As long as both parties make an honest effort at being a good partner and to communicate to the best of their abilities, the only thing that matters is if both are happy. It’s refreshing to hear stories like this for sure!
Good point. I hope along with jlj that the tone would remain the same. The bottom line, as long as the two people involved are happy, I’m happy for them!
Yeah, me as well. (I'm reading Free Fall: A Late-in-life Love Affair by Rae Padilla Francoeur right now, and wish stories of the sort were more prevalent, frankly.)
OMG, I just looked up this book you are reading and it sounds amazing! I’m going to get it, recommend it for book club. For so long I feel women have been brainwashed to choose everything and everyone BUT themselves. This sounds like a wonderful, liberating adventure on so many levels! Thanks for posting.
You're most welcome. :) I landed on it after a not-inconsiderable amount of research, I can assure you! Very happy to have that time -- that I don't regret, I should quickly add! -- benefit others. :) If your club does go for it, maybe I could send you a virtual contribution to the ensuing discussion. ;)
No pressure, honestly -- it was a cheeky request. ;) I haven't been able to find a book club since moving to the UK, and the one I attempted to start floundered quite early. Either way, happy reading! :)
Thrilled for the happy couple however would love more info on the elephant story.
Me too! But I can’t wonder if the author would have been as enthusiastic had the genders been reversed.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

On the elephant, Kaavan, it seems that the documentary referenced was released last year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaavan#Cher_&_the_Loneliest_Elephant

Will let you know. We are gathering to discuss the list for next year. I just had my turn, so it will be awhile.

Thanks for this story. I had found it also and posted it on Readup. Maybe it will get some traction. Sounds like a good documentary.
