I could feel the tenderness of this relationship in my body. And have experienced it a few times with various pets throughout my lifetime. I just lost my cat of 14 years, Bat Man, and it’s like loosing part of my physical self. He followed me everywhere, like a dog. He claimed me as his, a love as devotional as my morning meditation. Where he sat in my lap, curled, purring, his warmth so comforting, so painfully missed.
