Thanks! I hadn't registered that passage deeply. The title does connect well to an overall theme: their needs forced them into doing things they would prefer not to do (I think). But that wish of needing nothing also seems contradictory to the context of the quote. They didn't seem to wish to entertain Leslie without her payment.

Another incredibly immersive masterpiece from Miranda July. I had finally read Roy Spivey the other day and enjoyed it so much that I had to look up the author. Can’t recommend that one enough either!
