He's not exactly wrong. In most countries it would be considered strange for a publication to openly endorse a political candidate. But in this particular case, we know one of the candidates (Trump) considers the free press an enemy, and has lately been using fascist rhetoric about the enemy within. Every newspaper should endorse the candidate who doesn't want to shut them down and imprison them! But as Bezos says, endorsements probably don't do much to actually swing elections, so it's probably wiser for him to keep his head down in case of fascist victory.
I’m with Jeff Bezos on this one. Journalism needs to go back to reporting without bias—not lecturing its readers. Let’s be honest—papers have a slant. Even as a reporter for a small time paper I saw firsthand how editors rewrite stories to fit their views.
