I've met generational one-percenters (his global elite), I got news -they don't care about 'winning', 'domination', or 'owning/control'. Their parents do, their parents are the ones who got them there. The younger ones I've met are more concerned with where the best vacation is and what charity they want to run.
I also think there is some perspective bias here. A self identified gentry posits that labor is dumb (too dumb to know the elite exists) and the Elite are evil at worst and quasi-evil at best. But the Gentry are almost all good and virtuous. Shocking.
