Hey, that’s no big shame. Most times with rock music, I just love the melody. I tend to listen more deeply to lyrics of older, classic, more standards type of music in the Frank Sinatra era because the orchestration is so beautiful as well as the lyrics. It feels more like poetry, although some can be really corny! Etta James, Nancy Wilson, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Mel Torme to name just a few.
Interesting interpretation, however, I would love to hear what the band members have to say.
I've always interpreted it more shallowly; about a young man growing up in poverty, committing a terrible crime, then being hunted by law enforcement.
But metaphors and other double meanings go over my head about 100% of the time.

I always thought Freddie mercury was a musical and lyrical genius. This song confirms my suspicions and regard it as the greatest song of all time.
