Didn't realize this writer lives in the town next to mine, basically 10 min away. What she shares about June weather is so real, I couldn't seem to write anything that wasn't either heat stress or climate stress, the heat was just too real, the smell of smoke too early. It takes a few weeks to get used to hot days, usually we get eased into it. This year it was a slap in the face, or felt like it everytime you leave the house.

This piece is the kind of share that makes me feel seen on a day, yet another day, when I check to make sure there aren't any fires getting closer, when it's hot, and when I wonder just how bad it's going to get. This is solid gold, but not the chirpy, light kind you'd usually get. It's just, real.
